Hinckley Times – Paedophile hunters working with police

The group, set up by Hinckley dad ‘John’, are now liaising with police over arresting suspected child sex abusers at meets

Vigilante paedophile chasers LetzGo Hunting are back with a fresh way of working and plans to turn into legitimate crime-busters.

The group, set up by Hinckley dad ‘John’, are now liaising with police over arresting suspected child sex abusers at meets and hope to qualify as private detectives.

After some 13 months off the scene John has reformed the team with two friends, known as Paul and Alan.

John explained since relaunching at the end of last year they had already been responsible for four arrests: “We want to make people aware we are back and we want to take things to a more professional level. This time we are working more closely with the police and instead of us going along to all meets and filming the person we pass on all the evidence to the police and they attend.”

The latest incidents involve men in Basildon, Northampton, Birmingham and Leicester. During the nine months or so the group were operating previously they filmed 15 confrontations with men who believed they were meeting underage girls after grooming them online. At least two have been jailed.

With the new methods the group hope to trap even more paedophiles and prevent accusations of driving perpetrators underground.

Their original tactics – to film the sting and post online – were widely criticised after one man they confronted committed suicide.

John said the aim now was to take the operation in a more professional direction. “Our processes may have changed but the aims have not. Internet grooming and paedophilia is a massive issue and the police don’t have the resources to tackle it as they would like. We are looking to take a course and qualify as private detectives by May this year so we are all above board.
