Paedophile downloaded ‘most extreme pictures imaginable’ of newborn babies

Court hears Mark Anders, who also encouraged a six-year-old boy to be raped, has been “terrorised” in jail.

A paedophile who encouraged a six-year-old boy to be raped and downloaded the ‘most extreme pictures imaginable’ of newborn babies was jailed.

Mark Anders, 47, shared his sick stash with other perverts online and urged them to carry out abuse, telling one: “Rape kind of goes with the territory.”

He was today sentenced to six years in prison after prosecutors told Liverpool Crown Court: “More extreme [pictures] it is difficult to contemplate.”

Police found 1,150 indecent images on Anders’ mobile phone when they raided his home in Ingleton Drive, St Helens on June 14 this year.

Robert Jones, prosecuting, said they included 402 Category A – the most serious category – 328 Category B and 420 Category C pictures.

His collection featured videos of newborn babies being raped and he traded 175 of the files.

He was a member of a group called ‘Pics and Vids of Boys’ and chatted with fellow paedophiles on Kik Messenger.

On November 6, 2015 he discussed the abuse of a 15-year-old boy and received images of him.

He encouraged the other man to sexually assault the child and said: “If he’s 14, so much the better.”

On December 25 last year, Anders talked with another pervert about the abuse of a six-year-old boy, saying: “If you’re a boy lover as we are, then rape kind of goes with the territory.”

He gave another paedophile advice about abusing a 12 or 13-year-old boy on June 12 this year.

Mr Jones said: “It was a very depraved state of affairs.”

Anders admitted three counts of downloading, one of possessing and one of distributing indecent images of children.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of encouraging sexual assault of children. He has no previous convictions.

Robert Haygarth, defending, said Anders had already sought treatment and counselling.

He said: “He says ‘what I’ve done is appalling – if you look at the word remorse in the dictionary that is me’.”

Mr Haygarth described him as a “lonely and isolated” man, who helped his mum care for his dementia-suffering grandmother.

He said Anders, who considered suicide, had a heart condition which prevented him from working.

Mr Haygarth told the court Anders was “not of any great stature” and had been “bullied considerably” in prison, adding: “He has been terrorised.”

Judge Neil Flewitt, QC, said there was no evidence the boys referred to in the messages were actually molested.

However, he said: “You acknowledged the conversations were not just fantasy and were conducted in the belief that a child would be abused somewhere in the world.”

The judge said Anders was “in many ways an inadequate man” who would find prison difficult, but was an “offender of particular concern”.

This means he will serve at least half of his sentence in jail and only be released if a parole board deems he is no longer a risk.

He must serve an extended year on licence, comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Paedophile jailed after Peppa Pig World sting

A paedophile has been jailed after being caught in a sting operation at the Peppa Pig World theme park.

Andrew Sealey, 39, ran an online theme parks forum which he used to lure children to attractions, Southampton Crown Court heard.

He was arrested following a sting by a “vigilante paedophile hunter” who posed as a 15-year-old girl arranging to meet for sex in a toilet at the Hampshire park.

Sealey was jailed for 40 months.

He pleaded guilty to eight charges of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and one of attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming.

‘Thin line’

Sealey’s behaviour came to light after he talked to another forum member about performing sex acts.

Gary Rogers Brennan became concerned and set up fake profiles of three teenagers.

In messages to them, the defendant sent them pictures of his penis and said to one: “It’s OK you being a virgin and 15, I don’t mind.”

Mr Rogers Brennan got in touch with self-styled paedophile hunter, Shane Brannigan, who confronted Sealey at the entrance to the park in May.

Judge Peter Henry said he had concerns about such sting operations.

‘Fraught with dangers’

“On the one hand I can fully understand the obvious concerns of the public and people who may therefore have been abused,” he said.

“On the other hand, to rely upon this activity of self-styled paedo hunters as a base for criminal prosecutions is fraught with dangers.

“In particular, there is a thin line between someone being entrapped or evidence not being admissible for some reason and a legitimate inquiry.”

Rob Griffiths, defending, said the defendant was “highly over-sexed” but there was “never any risk” to children at the park.

In addition to the prison term, Sealey, of Manor Road, Milborne Port, Somerset was given a sexual harm prevention order and had his mobile phone and laptop destroyed.

Carl McCarthy, 21 of Haddon Road, Birkenhead

Carl McCarthy, 21, of Haddon Road, Birkenhead, admitted causing or inciting sexual activity with a child and was handed two years in prison suspended for two years.

A Wirral man asked a 14-year-old boy to be his “webcam slave” and persuaded him to perform a shocking sex act.

Carl McCarthy, 21, contacted the boy on Skype before making him carry out his depraved demands.

But McCarthy, of Haddon Road, Birkenhead , was today spared jail by a judge.

Liverpool Crown Court heard how the reluctant boy was talked into performing a sex act with a bottle after McCarthy said he was the “master”.

Afterwards, the boy suggested it was now McCarthy’s “turn”, but he replied: “I don’t do that sort of thing”.

Judge Brian Cummings, QC, said McCarthy, who was then aged 18, had sent the boy a photograph of another man exposing himself.

He said the defendant indicated he “had a hold over this other male, in that he threatened to tell his parents of his sexuality” and made him perform sex acts.

Judge Cummings said McCarthy asked the boy if he was prepared to do the same things and gave “graphic verbal assistance”.

McCarthy later told probation officers he was uncertain about his own sexuality and sought reassurance online.

But the judge said: “It’s not really the impression I got from the Skype transcript.

“The defendant is inviting the boy to become his ‘webcam slave’, as he terms it, and seems to be indicating, supported by the sending of a photograph, that he has done this to at least one other person.”

Anna Duke, defending, said this was just “fantasy” and her client had not been involved in this before.

She said there was no evidence of previous offending on his phone or computer.

The boy’s concerned parents contacted police after finding distressing images on his computer.

Ms Duke said McCarthy accepted what he did was “foolish and wrong” and was now in a stable relationship and working full-time.

Judge Cummings said: “The nature of the exchange between you and him involves really graphic, and in its nature somewhat sadistic, sexual activity.”

The judge handed McCarthy two years in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to attend a sex offender rehabilitation programme.

He imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and told him to sign the sex offender register for 10 years.

Judge Cummings added: “You have come extremely close to going to prison.”
